My biggest pet peeve is all the video. Don’t get me wrong, some news needs the video, but if there’s a video and no written story, I skip it. I want to read my news. My second biggest pet peeve is the slideshow. If I can’t view it all on one page, I skip it, especially on a mobile device. And let’s not get started on all the “news” that puts forth a question or idea, but then never actually gets around to answering or discussing the headline or thesis - instead the author just wanders around the topic and wastes my time. I would also appreciate if lengthy stories had a shorter, yet still beefy-with-content summary. That would make it so much easier to get some news and mark some stories for later consumption.
