A museum is a building or institution that cares for and displays a collection of artifacts and other objects of artistic, cultural, historical, or scientific importance.[1] Many public museums make these items available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary.

Here are some of museums to visit in Bangalore:

1. Government Museum

Operational since 1865, the Government Museum in Bangalore is counted among the oldest museums in the country. However, it’s not just the rich history of this place that draws visitors, but also the impressive collection of archaeological and geological artifacts.

The museum has two exhibition floors which are divided into 18 galleries. The galleries cover sections that span sculpture, natural history, geology, art, music and numismatics.

2. HAL Heritage Centre & Aerospace Museum

HAL Heritage Centre & Aerospace Museum chronicles the development of the aviation industry and how the aircraft evolved in the past century. It does so through a comprehensive assortment of photographs as well as genuine and model aircraft and parts thereof.

Museums may not be your thing, but this one, with its intriguing collection, could very well change your entire outlook.

3. NIMHANS Brain Museum

Medical science museum with human brain samples, live neuro-anatomy demonstrations & guided tours.

NIMHANS Brain Museum is not your run-of-the-mill museum. For years, the place has been collecting, preserving and exhibiting brain specimens for educational and research purposes. It may appear or sound eerie to some people; however, the work that it has done regarding spreading awareness and removing stigma related to neuropsychiatric illnesses is really outstanding.

4. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Bangalore

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bangalore is a popular attraction in the city that is administered by the Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE). The entire establishment is meant for science enthusiasts with an aim to impart knowledge of the aspects of earth and space in a fun and exciting way.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium is a top attraction in the city, especially for kids and science buffs. The planetarium offers amazing 3D shows, a science park with up to 40 exhibits, and a sky theater. It also organizes a sky-gazing program on the first Sunday of every month.

5. Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum

Visvesvaraya Museum is fun for children and adults. It houses a treasure trove of machines and artifacts related to science and technology. Its interactive exhibits make this a great place for children to develop a love for science. There are exhibition Halls on Engines, Electricity, Fun Science, Space, Biotechnology & Electronics.

If you are a tech enthusiast or if you have children who love science and technology, the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, located in the Cubbon Park area is a great place to visit.
