I Lost an Argument with a Vegan. Here’s what I Learned.
Chris Newman

Something I learned listening to Sam Harris podcast with the pope of veganism, Peter Singer (listen here: https://www.samharris.org/podcast/item/what-is-moral-progress ). Veganism is deeply rooted in utilitarian philosophy. It’s deeply rooted in the (so simplistic) view that *good* and *evil* can be measured and quantified and that’s it’s possible to take decisions based on this sort of quaint arithmetic (“let’s compute the quantity of suffering created by doing this or that and choose the lesser evil”) that reminds us of scholastic debates or yore. It’s extremely *american*, indeed, and profoundly compatible with global predatory capitalism and its crazy ideology.
