I think you nailed it in that while it’s a good album, it lacks the tension that most great albums/songs have. Production is part of it, but the songs/performance are the key. I don’t presume to know what a day in the life is for them, but if the new album is the barometer, then it could be that their initial success created a level of comfort good for living, but not for creating art. That being said, their talent is such that I’m confident that their best work is yet to come. Dig deeper! Don’t be pleasant, be ecstatic! Don’t be disappointed, be filled with rage! Artistically speaking of course :)
