You’re right that Bill Clinton doesn’t quite have the credibility to lecture on feminism. And no one’s political views should be condescended like this. However, the music video she got famous from, Blurred Lines, has a pro-rape message, plain and simple. Music will discuss sex and shallow things, but that music video was about as anti-woman in its message as any could be. Read the lyrics. Read analysis of those lyrics. Robin Thicke stepped far over the line of moral decency to release that song, and Emily became famous by being used in it for her body condoning this message of rape. All of these comments criticizing her to stick with “getting naked” are just as low as her or Robin Thicke, or anyone responsible for that message. But there is simply no case to make for her being feminist, or for her providing reputable representation or official support for any political campaign.
