During their 3Q earnings call Google revealed that their third most important ranking signal is delivered by something called “RankBrain”, an artificially intelligent machine learning system. RankBrain’s main job is to help discern the intent of unconventionally phrased queries, particularly the daily 15% of queries that Google is seeing for the first time.
