Preface
My Freshman year studying finance at Carnegie Mellon University, I was first exposed to investing and studying markets and quite frankly I was overwhelmed. Through an investing club on campus, daily perusals of the Wall Street Journal and other sources, I have broadened my understanding of financial markets substantially, but have in no way became an expert.
The goal of this blog is to track my progression over the course of time, and hopefully uncover some insights along the way. To do this I have recently started a profile on the Chicago Board of Exchange website using their virtual trading tool to invest virtual money into real equities. Articles I may post will include any positions I take, markets I’m bullish on, new investing theories, and retroactively looking at past trades. Ultimately I hope to not only gain valuable knowledge and experience with handling money, but also gauge my progress over the course of my Carnegie Mellon career.
As a general guiding principle, I would normally follow a traditional buy and hold strategy of diversified indexes, but since that makes for an uneventful experience and honestly not a lot of fun, I will be trading and trying different strategies more often than I would if I were investing my own money.
