After coming off the boat we travelled to Te Anau a holiday town with lots of shops and eating places. Jon bought a fish pie at the renowned pie shop in the town where you could choose between different fillings such as venison and curried chicken. We ate lunch at the Ranch, a lovely meal of Monkfish and Salmon, before driving alongside the lake viewing the scenic views.Back to our B&B in Manapouri for a well earned rest and an early night.
Leaving Manapouri we took the road to our next three night stop at Frankton just outside the large town of Queenstown, the centre of skiing in the winter months. We stopped for coffee at a Trip Advisor café called the Dome at Mossburn and got talking to a local about the area.We then took the road between the Eyre mountains and the Hector mountain. reaching Lake Wakatipu and our home for the next 3 nights. The house faces the lake with the shoreline only 20 metres away with views up the lake. Queenstown airport is close and could be off putting but planes only seem to take off or land hourly and for three days it will be spectacular to see them soaring over the snow capped mountain as they fly over the lake. No planes overnight so no noise problems. Tomorrow we will visit Queenstown to see the sights and we also want to take a recommended drive up a mountain pass to Glen Orchy. Also we are hoping to visit Arrowtown and old gold mining town that has kept most of its old buildings.
We do not have an internet wi fi connection at our accommodation so have to use the local café, so up to date blogs might be delayed. Cafe internet is slow so cannot upload photos.
