The best time to steal books is during winter. It is so because wearing a coat looks natural. Another important thing to remember is not to wear a mask on your face.

How to Steal Books?

Unlike robbers who need to make sure their portraits stay hidden, the book thief needs to make sure he is looking as natural as possible. And wearing a wide coat and a regular hat on a cold autumn or winter day is completely expected. Covering the full face, however, is not.

From this point on, there are two ways for a book thief to steal books. One is to take a couple of books which he is going to pay and smuggle a couple of additional books below his coat. This is the least risky way of doing the job.

The other is not to buy any books at all but only to carry out the stolen ones. However, going in and out of the bookstore without making a purchase might seem suspicious. It is why every experienced book thief first takes a pleasure tour through the bookstore and puts a couple of books in the wide inner pockets of his coat. However, he doesn’t go out. Instead, he goes to the cashier to ask him in which section of the store can he find a book he is interested in. He will say something like,

I checked the romance and steamy books section but it wasn’t there.

That specific title the book thief is looking for was being planned in advance.

For example, a skilled book thief will ask for “Stories from the Brothel” by Mr. W.. Since that edition of the book is almost impossible to get due to the fact that all other editions have been published under the title “Long Live Hoes,” the employee will come with his customer to look for the title together. Eventually, he will tell a book thief that they don’t have “Stories from the Brothel” but they do have “Long Live Hoes” by Mr. W. which is the same. However, the book thief will say he is precisely looking for the edition called “Stories from the Brothel” and ask the bookstore employee where could he find it.

It is important that a book thief demonstrates eagerness in his desire to get original copies. Upon getting a response from the employee, without seeming suspicious, the book thief will be able to leisurely leave the bookstore with his spoils.
