French author Marcel Proust(10 July 1871–18 November 1922) wrote the longest book ever. He suffered his first asthma attack when he was only nine years old and has remained prone to illness ever since. Born in a wealthy family, he was raised as a catholic but had never really lived a religious life. Marcel was a homosexual. He often visited male prostitutes. On the night of 11 January 1918, Proust was one of the men identified by police in a raid on a male brothel. The poet Paul Morand openly teased Proust for visiting male prostitutes so much. But it wasn’t all about prostitutes. Proust had a relationship with composer Reynaldo Hahn. He was also very passionate about his chauffeur Alfred Agostinelli. The influence his sexuality had on his writing remained highly debatable.
