32 Content Ideas for Businesses
We’ve all heard the phrase ‘Content is King’. But how do you actually come up with interesting new content ideas after you’ve run out?
Here’s a few to consider:
- On This Day — People love to read about, and share interesting facts. Post them on your Facebook page with a great relevant picture, tweet it out on Twitter, and upload the picture to Instagram with a great #caption
- News — People like to be ‘in the know’. Got a new product range coming out, about to offer a new discount? Shout about it on your blog, tweet it out on Twitter, post it up on Facebook, and showcase how amazing it looks on Instagram!
- Quote — Everybody loves a bit of motivation, especially #motivationmondays
- Staff Profiles — Give an insight into the people behind the company. We all buy from people, not companies. So open up about the fabulous people at yours!
- Fun Facts — Everybody loves to look clever to their friends and family. Posting an interesting fact on Twitter has a high chance of getting retweeting, purely down to the Social Desirability Effect — so jump on it!
- Features and Interviews — If you were recently featured in a local newspaper — share the photo on Facebook and Instagram, live on a radio show — share the the link on Twitter
- Polls — Want feedback on your new product range? Unsure which new location to open up a shop in? Ask your audience! Create engagement, allow for participation, and get some great feedback!
- Behind the Scenes — By our nature, humans are very nosy people, and we love to see what’s going on in someone else’s world. Post a photo of the office space, take a picture of that all-important snack cupboard, or an update with a team member. Put a face behind the brand.
- Blog — Brilliant for SEO, fab for customers to get to know more in-depth detail about you and your knowledge.
- Infographics — Condensing large amounts of information down into one simply, easy-to-read and share, format.
- Photos -We all resonate with photos better than text. Show off your swanky new office, big up your new product packaging, and tell the world what you all look like behind the computer screen. Market yourself in a way that people will resonate with.
- A Day In The Life — As I said before, people LOVE to peek behind the scenes, especially the people buying your products! They want to know as much about the company and people selling them a product/service as possible, and it helps build a stronger customer relationship for repeat orders and referrals.
- Tips and Tricks — Found out about a new thing that’ll help your customers achieve more with your product? Share it!
- Run a Contest — Ask your customers to take part in your competition! This could be as simple as liking and sharing a post on Facebook, or them submitting photos of themselves using your product with different backgrounds. You may need to give away some sort of prize, but you win big kudos in terms of Brand Awareness in return!
- Holiday and Public Awareness Days — Get the whole office to dress up for Halloween, and post photos of everyone’s outfits! A great way to engage with potential customers, and get lots of attention
- Q&A — Ask your audience to submit questions they have around your topic, and you answer them on social media. All the time building up credibility, authority, and cementing in customers minds that you know what you’re talking about
- Tell a Story — Everyone loves stories and it puts a face behind the brand/company.
- Post about Trending Topics — One surefire way to get lots of people linking to your webpage/blog post page is to post about a currently trending topic
- Post Behind-The-Scenes Photos of your office — everybody likes a peek every now and again!
- Link to an old or new blog post — Content is King! Revive old content, and bring fresh eyeballs to new content
- Read and Summarise or Review books — We all like to learn but some of us don’t have the time to read them all. Summarising books as you read goes a long way to creating fab content that’s shareable!
- Attend and write up about local events/conferences — people love to hear about what you’ve been up to!
- Study a company — their marketing strategy e.g. Coca Cola or Facebook or AppSumo
- Customer Success Story — Have you helped a client get success through what you’ve done for them? Showcase and talk about it!
- Discuss future plans and forecast new trends — This keeps you looking up-to-date and an influencer in the marketplace
- Create an Infographic — Lengthy, boring information made simple and interesting
- Make a Podcast — for those that hate reading
- Show your charity work / support — Show off your charitable work and the wonderful charities you support
- Create a regular feature e.g. best customer of the month
- Write a series — Maybe its the latest platforms available to market on, or it could be a series about one particular topic or subject?
- Q&A — Answer some common questions potential customers have
- Resource List — Got a list of useful tools? Share it!
