Ante Up

It dawned on me recently that I’ve never really had many conventional career aspirations. At some point I wanted to be:

Rich

A Fashion Designer

A Model, don’t ask!!!

A Professional Tennis Player

A Basketball Player

Did I mention Rich?

An Entrepreneur

A DJ

Artist Manager

Now add to that list make a difference. Before I continue, let me address, the model thing. It was the Levi ad where this guy, Nick Kamen walks into the laundry and takes off his pair of jeans washes them there and then. He was a big deal, the girls loved him. I think I even fancied him. I thought I’d have some of that, the adulation from the females I hasten to add.

Nevertheless, I came to the sad realization given the size of my hooter it was never going to happen so I pursued a more realistic career path, a professional Tennis Player.

This weekend happens to be Valentines Day as if you hadn’t noticed. In a true Deckhead fashion I’ve decided to celebrate being single as I’m not in a relationship so why should I have to pander to the bullshit. Who said romance is dead ay?

I’ve become inspired by making a difference just because. Not in a preachy way, if that’s even a word but by actions. The other day I bought my mum some flowers to which she replied.

‘Is it Mother’s day?’

It wasn’t Mother’s Day, it wasn’t her birthday, but just because.

At Radicals last week there was an incident where a man slapped another man in the face. I went over and policed the situation and the gentlemen who caused the offense was asked to leave. I then got the gentlemen who had been slapped and his table some drinks just because.

I feel where I can have ownership to make a difference I’m going to jump all over it like a tramp on chips. That might not of been the most appropriate analogy, but you get my point.

I don’t disclose this to impress you, but to impress upon you that the imprint is a reflection of how I view life, although my ex girlfriends may beg to differ

In a crowded marketplace, fitting in is a failure. In a busy marketplace, not standing out is the same as being invisible.

It’s easy to revert to standard practices. When writing these posts sometimes I’m concerned that if they’re too long people won’t read them. However, if the content is engaging enough people will want to read them.

I see it is like this, instead of thinking:

‘ I need to get the right breaks’

‘ It’s hard work’

‘Someday!’

‘I can’t see it happening’

‘It’s so competitive’

How about trying

Creating the breaks

Underachieving consistently

Doing something today

See it happening

Make a difference

In short Ante Up.

Thanks for your call Amina, but if I stayed on the phone any longer I would have lost my train of thought. Hope you enjoy.
