Building A Startup Doesn’t Make You Special.
Jon Westenberg

I have only been on Medium a month or so, and it seems like every other post is someone boasting about their startup. The thing that gets me is that on at least 3 occasions (I shan’t link them, I am sure you have seen at least one) I have seen phrases similar to “but I am not like normal people, I am a CEO and I demand respect”. Twice this sentiment appears to have come from people who have quit their job to start something new, a job they didn’t like due to those higher up looking down on them and saying “I am not like you, I am a CEO and I demand respect” (there is an element of “look what I have done all you haters” to the whole idea of crowdfunded startups).

The young upstarts are having their revolution, and when they move into the empty palaces they like it so much they ape the very forebears that they rallied against in the first place, “The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.”
