Sitting at my desk at work, discussing this video of a self styled “tambourine master” on Asia’s got Talent when this little conversation occurred

Colleague: He’s really entertaining, what amazed me was I didn’t think they’d have that over there.

Me: What, tambourines?

Colleague: No, all those X Factor and Got talent shows. They are almost like normal people.

Normal people like us English people, who watch this sort of audition on their own version of the X Factor. Normal, white heterosexual people who feel like anyone else must be somehow backwards and inferior (you could of course argue that the superior culture would not have those shows at all). Normal people like the colleague in question who decided she didn’t like her dog once and just let it go. Normal people that queue up for a near identical phone so they can feel pride for just a day every 2 years. Normal normal normal normal ….
