Web3alert.io now supports Astar and Shiden Networks! Hooray!

But stop, what does it even mean? It means that if Astar & Shiden Network users are interested in some on-chain call or event, they can freely subscribe to this event via Web3alert and get a notification whenever this event/call happens.

Alice wants to be notified every time she gets an incoming transfer of ASTR tokens to her Substrate Astar address. So she goes to Web3alert and sets up a free subscription to this type of notification in several clicks. After that, whenever she gets ASTR to her Substrate Astar address, she receives the following message ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Transfers notifications are great, but what else?

The most right answer (and the most useless) is anything. But it’s true, Web3alert can track any onchain event of call, and whenever followed event or call happens, Web3alert sends a message about:

  • all types of transfers (XCM, EVM, Substrate, in and out);
  • dapp staking;
  • collator notifications;
  • smart contracts events and calls;
  • and any other specific event or call.

Let’s dive deeper to get a better understanding of what we mean.

Simple Mode.

We have prepared Simple mode with the most common-used events for an easy start.

Since Astar and Shiden both support EVM and XCM, so the simple mode includes lots of different transfer notifications, so be careful when choosing.

Dapp Staking is a unique feature of Astar / Shiden. At its essence, dApp staking is identical to PoS staking, but dApp stakers (also known as nominators) can submit their Astar/Shiden tokens on dApps they want to support. A part of the rewards is allocated to dApp staking at each block. This sum is then split between developers and nominators. Overall, this provides a significant motivation for developers to produce dApps on Astar/Shiden.

Nominators can track the following events:

  • ASTR are staked to some Dapp
  • ASTR are unstaked from a Dapp
  • Staking rewards received

The subscription process via Simple mode is easy as these 4 steps:

1️⃣ put checkmarks near the desired events,
2️⃣ enter the address related to this events,
3️⃣ choose the messenger to receive notifications
4️⃣ enjoy!

Examples of notifications

Advanced Mode

There are so many events in the networks that users might want to track and that are not transfers or staking rewards. As an example, we took NFT (ERC-721) tracking.

Imagine that we’d like to track the movements of some NFT, say, recently created and sold-out Candy girl collection by Yoshitaka Amano.

Head up to Advanced mode and look through the events. Gathered into the modules, here they are:

To subscribe via Advanced mode, a user has to follow these steps:

1️⃣ choose a module (f.e. ERC-721)
2️⃣ choose an event (transfer)
3️⃣ choose filters (the address of collection and the id of the exact NFT)
4️⃣ choose messenger

Now every time the NFT with tokenID 414 from that collection is moved, we’ll be notified.

Smart contracts tracking

It’s an important part of Web3alert that is necessary to track specific events inside smart contracts. A user can add any smart contract to the Advanced module as a new module and subscribe to its events. That’s what we mean:

For this example, we added Arthswap’s IDO smart contract as a new module, and subscribed to the event “Project added”. Thus whenever a new project appears on Arthswap IDO, we will get a message.

How to:

1️⃣ Choose the Advanced mode;
2️⃣ Find the New module button;
3️⃣ Paste or type in a smart contract address;
4️⃣ Name it and push the “create module” button.

Well done! Now there is a new module with its own events, calls, and filters.

And last…

Messengers

Every Web3alert user has to log in to the service with Telegram, but when it comes to notifications, there are several options: Telegram, Discord, or Slack.

About Astar

Astar Network is the #1 TVL Smart Contract Hub for WASM + EVM on Polkadot. Since winning its Parachain auction in January 2022, Astar Network has become the top Parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem in Total Value Locked and most Ethereum assets transferred over. Astar Network is the leading smart contract hub that connects the Polkadot ecosystem to Ethereum, Cosmos, and all major layer 1 blockchains. Astar Network supports dApps using multiple virtual machines — namely WASM and EVM — and offers the best technology solutions and financial incentives via its Build2Earn and Astar Incubation Program for Web3 developers to build on top of a secure, scalable, and interoperable blockchain.
