As the old saying goes, if you play with fire, you will get burned! While it’s obvious that Thiel is clearly taking advantage of the situation with money and power, I’m hardly in defense of what was essentially a morally broken media outlet that got caught over and over again publishing pure lies. Gawker went on a tirade of publishing one story after another based on hearsay and worthless opinions backed by nothing, ruining people’s reputations without merit or remorse, all in the name of making more money. They got exactly what they deserved.
Gawker repeatedly published opinion and worded it as if it were fact, obviously in an attempt to deceive and manipulate public opinion. What they did didn’t just ruin reputations, it ruined any chance of them ever regaining trust with the public itself.
While a lot of what Thiel is doing is deceptive itself, I’m hardly in defense of Gawker.
