Hololens and the Super Mario Brothers Demo Creator shot in 360
On Thursday, July 20th, 2017, WebGuyz visited the Microsoft Reactor at 335 Madison Ave. The major purpose of the visit was to network with current hololens developers and gain information on further development of new MR and VR experiences. The team met with the developer of now famous Super Mario in Hololens, Abhishek Singh. Mr. Singh facilitated a presentation about his experience creating a 3d holographic render of goombas, brick blocks, and pipes. Furthermore, Abhishek Singh described some of the challenges he encountered while making the 3d models such as realizing that the very first level of Super Mario World has not been done in 3d. Additionally, the developer realized that he needed a leveled surface with no physical obstacles on the way. Moreover, Abhishek Singh created a height selector to account for flawless interaction with bricks above the player and the goombas on the ground by players of all heights, whether you are five feet tall or seven feet tall you will still receiving an authentic Mario experience.
After the presentation, the team met with Paul Blair, the organizer of the Hololens events across NYC. WebGuyz CEO Ross Cohen and VP Arianit Kukaj discussed a possible partnership that would benefit both parties. With this new partnership, WebGuyz received access to numerous Hololens developers for future collaborations and projects, thus moving forward with official development of Hololens applications with the support of the community. During the meeting, Paul Blair and the WebGuyz team also discussed further meet ups for Hololens enthusiasts and numerous guest speakers that will be present at the events throughout 2017. The friendly atmosphere of the meeting and the sheer energy between the two parties leaves nothing but joy and hope for the future of this partnership. The eventual goal is to inform as many people about the emerging mixed reality market lead by Microsoft’s own Hololens. Currently, 30–60 people attend Hololens meet ups, however that number will rise with greater awareness for the product brought by WebGuyz and directed by Paul Blair.
