Google Cloud is a collection of public cloud computing services provided by Google. The platform comprises a variety of hosted services for computation, storage, and application development that run on Google infrastructure. Google services can be accessible by software developers, cloud administrators, and other enterprise IT experts over the public internet or a dedicated network connection.

What Google Cloud is Offering?

Google Cloud provides computing, storage, networking, big data, machine learning, and Internet of Things (IoT) services, as well as cloud management, security, and developer tools. Google Cloud’s cloud computing products include the following:

• Google Compute Engine, an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) provider that provides users with virtual machine (VM) instances for workload hosting.

  • Google App Engine, a platform as a service (PaaS) product that provides software developers with scalable hosting from Google. An SDK can also be used by developers to create software products that operate on App Engine.

Google Cloud’s Competitors

Google Clouds faces stiff competition from other public cloud services, with AWS and Microsoft Azure leading the pack.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the oldest and most mature public cloud, having debuted as a public service in 2006. It often provides the most comprehensive set of general tools and services, and it has the biggest market share by appealing to a diverse customer base ranging from individual developers to larger corporations to government agencies.
