weFooz Human Foosball Tournament VII: Xtraordinary Joy — Gainesville, Florida

Whether this is your first Human Foosball Tournament or you’re a pro like Laura, it doesn’t hurt to get prepared for this game. With just seven minutes to play, Human Foosball is designed to be fast and furious! The arena can get intimidating, this is why proper preparation is the key to succeeding.

Here are some tips to help you become a well-prepared Human Foosball player:

  1. Be prepared for rain or shine. This is an outdoor game, so you must adapt to the environment, which is fickle at times. When it rains heavy, expect the arena to get slippery and muddy. On the positive side, this setting can add up to the drama, intensity, and fun! With regards to Florida’s unpredictable weather, we suggest that you bring two items: raincoat and sunblock.
  2. Make Team Preparations. If you already have a team set up before the tournament, we recommend coming up with a strong team name. This promotes a spirit of unity and camaraderie among members. Your team should also discuss player positions as well as game strategies. If you have the time, pull out an old foosball table and plan a few plays. By doing so, you are fostering teamwork and building up excitement leading up to the game.
  3. Learn the Game Rules. There are many people setting foot in the Human Foosball Arena for the very first time. This is not an issue as Human Foosball is a special sport open to all. But if you’re new to the game, we encourage reading the rules beforehand to understand fouls and other safety precautions. This will definitely help you play the game better and consequently, enjoy more in the process.
  4. Wear Protective Gear. This is highly recommended. In some tournaments, we’ve had a few blunders where the ball has landed on people’s faces as well as shins. We suggest you wear: face masks, shin guards, and knee pads.
  5. Wear Proper Footwear. For safety reasons, we do not recommend sandals or flip flops. Closed toe shoes will protect you from the elements. For our seasoned soccer players, we encourage you to bring cleats.
  6. Pack Snacks. We try to make sure that food is available at the tournament. But having light snacks within your reach may prove to be convenient. We wouldn’t want you to be out grabbing a bite and come back to realize that you’ve missed out on a game …
