The Regular Maintenance of Port Fenders

As the fender device of large boats, because of installing the impingement plate which will lessen the pressure to the shell plate of boats, so its structure is more complex when comparing with traditional general fenders and when the structure was damaged, the fender will not protect the safe berthing of boats. To prolong its lifespan, we must make regular maintenance to fender system.

When the ship begins to berth, we should check the first three ships’ berthing, then we need to check it every month.

Scope of examination:

1.Check if the anchor bolt and the bolt of fixed impingement plate became loose, when they are loose, we should tighten it then fix the fixed bolt and base plate with spot welding.

2.Check if the fender body has some unusual phenomena like rupture or cut wound and so on. When it happens deeply rupturing phenomena,we should contact the supplier timely.

3.Check if the impingement plate has some phenomena like sag,crack and corrosion and if it happens, we should contact the supplier timely and to prevent impingement plate rusting.we should do the preservative treatment once a year as far as possible.

4.Check if the impingement plate is anteverted.Because the materials are cumulate in the inside of impingement plate and it leads to the anteversion, so we should try our best to clear up the deposits in the inside of impingement plate.

5.Check if the impingement plate has scratch,crushing damage and so on. We should change the broken impingement plate timely.

6.Check if the beton of ships side which install the fender has crack and if it happens, we should contact Civil.

7.Check if the rubber elastomer of hanging impingement plate is normal and if it is abnormal, we should change and deal with it.
