Cheryl Gallaway: Taking a lean approach to design to solve unique problems with beautiful and sensible solutions

Starting July, Cheryl will be delivering the Graphic Design Practice (MDDN413) course, as part of our Master of User Experience Design programme, delivered by Victoria University of Wellington School of Design.

Cheryl Gallaway is a Designer with over 15 years of design industry experience, specialising in Visual Design with a focus on User Experience. Most recently Cheryl led the design team at Madgex, in Brighton. The Madgex digital products power the job boards of over 500 brands, in multiple languages to clients in 14 countries, relied upon by the world’s leading media brands including The Guardian, Washington Post, The Economist and FT.com. Cheryl has presented her work at the Brighton UX Careers Clinic, Spring Forward: a celebration of the role of women in digital culture, and the Brighton Digital Festival.

Prior to that she worked for nearly a decade in Amsterdam after graduating in London. Cheryl joined Solar Initiative leading the Interaction Design before being awarded a bursary to further develop her practice. It was after this she co-found the design studio Hexaplex. The studio worked in a vibrant creative network, paying particular attention to web design and the emerging field of user experience. Collaborating with NS/Dutch National Rail, The Royal Palace Amsterdam & Dutch Design Week.

About the Master of User Experience Design (MUXD)

User experience design is one of the largest growing design fields that addresses all aspects of user experience from understanding the identity of the users to the creation of the designs they interact with.

This MUXD is intended for recent graduates with non-design degrees and/or industry professionals wishing to enter the Interaction Design (IX) or User Experience (UX) fields from another discipline or profession. The 180-point Master’s programme is completed in three full-time trimesters over 12 months at Victoria University’s School of Design.
