And the organic industry spent millions for GMO labeling. If someone was spending money to demonize your product for three decades, you might have reasons not to use their vocabulary. “Why” is irrelevant. As it is not an ingredient, but a breeding method, it tells the consumer nothing. So the government just doesn’t have the constitutional authority to force speech without an evidence based health or environmental concern.

If you want to boycott companies that don’t label voluntarily, go for it. I’ll argue against it, but I will acknowledge that it is a fair way to make change.
