Mindful Eating
Eating in front of the TV or computer, focusing on what you are watching or working on, consuming food without even enjoying it, sounds familiar?

Yes! Most of us eat a lot of times without paying much attention to what we are having.
Mindful eating is something you can practice anytime you are eating. This concept is based on Mindfulness and is about being completely aware and noticing the colors, smells, tastes, and textures of the food we are consuming.
When we eat too fast or are distracted while eating, we tend to overeat because the brain takes almost 20 minutes to register that our body is full.
Research suggests that Mindful eating helps individuals with weight problems and to make more conscious and healthy choices with their food. With practice, Mindful eating helps us notice and understand the contrast between emotional and physical hunger and satiety and presents a pause to respond and control to “urges.”
So from now on, slow down, avoid distraction and savor every bit of what you are having! Rediscover the pleasures of eating!
I’ll leave you with a short but fabulous Mindful Eating meditation from our Daily Happiness series. Enjoy!
