I Don’t Feel Bad About My Latte
Allie Scully

Truthfully, part of my wants to be judgey about this, but I totally feel you on the idea that living and being happy in the present is more important than most financial advisors emphasize (although being happy in the present and saving money aren’t mutually exclusive!) My mother grew up with the complete opposite mindset — “spend nothing besides the bare essentials so you can save for your future “ — and while that led to my family being very financially comfortable, I would not say that she is happy or content — rather, she continues to be high strung and constantly worried, which makes me wonder if the other extreme is worth it.

P.S. Sweet Gabriel Garcia Marquez reference!
