Whenever I have to drive somewhere alone only a short distance away, I’ve made it a habit to not touch my phone or the radio. No music. Just sit in my car in silence and catch my thoughts. Any complaints, i.e. if someone cut me off, any judgements on people walking down the street, any preoccupations about what happened a few hours ago or what will happen tomorrow… I just let it go and become present. Shift my awareness to my breath, to my hands on the wheel, my feet on the gas. So yeah in short I kind of go on a meditative state whenever I can. I know the focus of this article was to try and disconnect from technology form time to time. But, sometimes disconnecting from your thoughts may be just as satisfying and eye opening.
