“Om Mani Padme Hum” by Tibetan Incantations is the mantra that I listen to on my long runs! I first heard it during my first trip to Nepal, it was playing in the streets at Kathmandu and I haven’t stopped listening to it since. It is my go-to song whenever I’m traveling or I need to clear my mind. It helps me during my runs because I find that it calms my mind and keeps me at a consistent rhythm. In most runs, I always want to take off and go, blast all my energy within the first hour or so but this song keeps me paced.
Om Mani Padme Hum is known to be “The Powers of Six Syllables” because it contains the essence of the teachings in Buddhism. • “Om” blessed to help you achieve perfection in the practice of generosity • “Ma” helps perfect the practice of pure ethics • “Ni” helps achieve perfection in the practice if tolerance and patience • “Pad” helps to achieve perfection of perseverance • “Me” helps achieve perfection in the practice of concentration • “Hum” helps achieve perfection in the practice of wisdom.
