“From the beginning, create your financial stability in a way that is true to who you want to be. Hold that goal and never lose sight of it.” Fantastic piece, thank you. My personal issue was that I did not know who I wanted to be until after I had dropped out of college a few times. I wasn’t putting aside dreams, I really believed I wanted to be a biologist. (It’s hard — not impossible — to build long-term financial stability on service jobs alone.) I fought being a writer kicking-and-screaming. I didn’t want to be a “starving artist.” And then, it took years to learn a craft. Leaps of faith, trusting “the process”…dispelling fear. I could not have done it on my own.
