Recap: 2nd Annual LoftyInc Capital Management MANE Event

LoftyInc Capital Management held its 2nd Annual MANE event held on the 30th of October at the prestigious Eko Hotel and suites in Lagos, Nigeria. The event which was organised by LoftyInc Capital Management had in attendance investors,start-ups,media houses and industry experts.

The event tagged Smart African Investing featured talks, panel session, networking and Start-Up presentations.

Speaking at the MANE event our managing Michael Oluwagbemi stated that “ If we don’t invest in private-sectors or Starts up, we stand a chance of loosing our best hands to other countries or continent because people and talents will move if they don’t get the opportunities to express themselves”

He further emphasized the need to turn our raw materials in Africa into actual economic growth. He also said that growing Africa as a continent is the reason LoftyInc is passionate about innovation and what innovation can do to the growth of Africa. He said If we want to see the future of Africa which is free of poverty and pain then we need to invest in our youths just like LoftyInc capital management invested in Andela which was worth $2.5 million but has now grown to $5million and has also shown that Africa can be headquarters of data revolutions in the world.”

Michael further stated that Africa can lead the new age of data i.e Africa can upgrade or develop and go into the age of data confidently and able to take its stands in the committee of Nations.

Osita Oparaugo,the CEO FootPrint2Africa who was the second key speaker advised business Startups to be more purposeful when implementing their ideas and also stated that in whatever they do, creating value is key else their vision will be lost. He further went on the say that start-ups should find a void in the market they intend to fill, develop a solution and consistently provide that solution in a unique way.

He established that the new Africa is emerging and technology will play a huge role in its development.

There was a panel session moderated by Lanre Oluniniyi(co-founder Orbit), the panelist discussed “Connecting African Startups to Investment Opportunities: Preview,Inherent Challenges and Prospects”.

The members of the panel were Michael Oluwagbemi (Executive Partner, LoftyInc), Oluyomi Ojo( CEO Printivo), Olumide Osundolire (Managing Partner, Banwo & Ighodalo) and Ladi Daudo( CEO Sierra Capital Limited).

During the panel session, CEO Printivo stated “Start-ups need to see the peculiar challenges in Nigeria as an opportunities not threats”

The event ended with start-ups showcasing their products and services our investors. The start-ups that presented were ProNOV, ePump ,crop2cash , Dilivas Box and Dropque.
