Three Different Locations in Three Days
2000+ Miles in 96 Hours for Three Photo Shoots
Stormie Perdash flew into Reno Tahoe International Airport on Thursday morning just before my first class of the day. She had traveled all night to get here from Ronan, Montana. It had been just over four years since the two of us had last seen one another.
I am not going to lie, I was a little nervous when going to pick her up from the airport. When I arrived it was as if we had just seen each other the day before. We have one of those friendships that pick up right from where we last left off. We went right back to the jokes and non stop laughter. How I missed my best friend.
(If you want to read a little more about Stormie, check out my previous blog post.)
I had to race to class and she needed at least a little sleep, so I dropped her off and went to class. After my political science class finally ended, I hurried home.
We wanted to get some fun shots of down town Reno. This was our first location. Stormie had this fun yellow dress that gave off Beyonce Lemonade vibes. We walked around all over trying to find cool places to shoot. Pictured below are some of my favorites.
Our next location was Lake Tahoe. I was really excited to go here because I had not been in months. Lake Tahoe is the one part of the Reno area that reminds me of what it was like growing up in Montana. The beautiful lake surrounded by pine trees brings back memories from my childhood. My siblings and I basically lived at the Flathead Lake in Polson, Montana when we were younger. Fun times!
This shoot at Tahoe was a lot of fun. We were both more comfortable shooting with each other at this point. The day was filled with laughs and 40 degree weather. You would not be able to tell that Stormie was freezing in the photos. She’s a trooper I tell you. We had to take breaks to warm up in my Jeep just so we could make it to sunset. We got a little carried away and ended up filling up a 32 GB SD card with how many pictures we took. Whoops.
Last but certainly not least was our trip to San Francisco. This was my favorite one of the three. We had two shoots done and this one turned out great. There are so many more pictures that I need to edit, (stay tuned for them) but these were a few of my favorites.
I found it funny how Stormie is relatively a shy person, but once she gets in front of the camera she means business. While on the beach there were so many people watching us, but she did not care. She was “doing it for the Gram.”
After shooting most of the day on the beach and around the city we needed food. We made reservations at this little Mexican restaurant and ended up spending about 30 minuets looking for parking, but it was all worth it. The food was amazing.
After we finished eating we got some ice cream from a cute little Ice Cream shop the next block over. Stomie had the awesome idea of taking some pictures at night with the neon signs and her new props (ice cream cone and baseball cap).
We walked around a few blocks looking for cool signs. I was a little uncomfortable having people staring at us through the windows, but when I asked Stormie if she was sure about this she said “does it look like I care!” We both burst into laughter.
This past weekend was so much fun. I learned so much when it comes to shooting with models. I am definitely more comfortable with portraits now than I was before. It was really good to spend time with my best friend. We both needed it. We are planning another trip to Southern California soon, so stay tuned!
