It’s been a while since I’ve read an article about overachieving and I’ve never identified so hard with one. My parents both have college degrees and they are Asian-American, but that is not the reason why I overachieve; I genuinely love learning and doing things that I find enjoyable, and that’s why I’ve worked so hard to maintain the activities that I do. Maybe it is because I self-validate myself through success and other people’s approvals of me, but I believe it’s because I am so afraid of failure and slipping behind. This truth has become easier to admit as I have gone through high school, and it’s something that many overachievers should take into consideration as they pursue all the things they do.
