In this article I will tell you briefly and powerfully why I think Stellar is a super investment at the moment.

Stellar exists since 5 August 2014 and is one of the classic cryptocurrencies in my opinion. Stellar was founded and developed by Jed McCaleb and Joyce Kim. Nowadays the Stellar blockchain is being developed by the Stellar Development Foundation.

Jed McCaleb has worked on the development of Ripple until 2013, and before that he founded the infamous (hacked) exchange Mt. Gox. Jed had a different vision than the developers of Ripple. So Jed decided to develop a new blockchain, which has almost the same function as its competitor Ripple.

Both Stellar and Ripple want to offer a brand new global payment network, mainly for banks and other financial organizations. On both blockchains almost all digital currencies can be transferred directly from person to person, not just cryptocurrencies.

Also fiat currencies like the Dollar and the Euro are main examples that can be sent through these payment networks. Stellar and Ripple do this without taking national borders into account. These payment networks function 24/7, at all times, and allow almost direct transactions from e.g. the Netherlands to the United States.

Stellar’s payment network is extremely fast (2–5 seconds) and cheap to use. The transaction costs on the Stellar blockchain are only a fraction of a cent.

The multinational IBM sees a lot of potential in Stellar and they have already signed contracts with more than 44 banks to make the transition to the so-called “World Wire”. More than 72 countries and 47 different currencies are already participating.

The Stellar Development Foundation is a non-profit organization responsible for the further development of the Stellar blockchain protocol. The Stellar blockchain uses its own consensus algorithm called the Stellar Consensus Protocol.

Stellar’s price has fluctuated around $ 0.002 for years since its launch in 2014, but in May 2017 this suddenly changed and the price shot to a peak of $ 0.86 on 3 January 2018. The current bottom in February 2019 is around $ 0.074.

Reasons to invest in Stellar today

  1. There are currently more than 19,223,806,819 XLM in circulation. The total stock is currently 104,822,379,135 XLM, and this number will increase annually by 1% (inflation) according to the design of the Stellar blockchain.
  2. If we express this in Stellar per world resident then we come to a calculation of 19,223,806,819 / 7,700,000,000 = 2.5 XLM per world resident. If you own 2.5 XLM you have the average number of Stellar available per person.
  3. Stellar can be traded on more than 216 marketplaces and is one of the classic cryptographic currencies.
  4. Stellar has a large group of software developers. There are already dozens or hundreds of applications developed and in development for Stellar.
  5. Stellar’s daily trading volumes have been gradually increasing since the beginning of November 2018, but the volume is still relatively low.
  6. The Stellar blockchain uses its own consensus algorithm called the Stellar Consensus Protocol. Also fiat currencies such as the Dollar and the Euro are the main examples that can be sent through these payment networks. Stellar does this without taking national borders into account. This payment network works 24/7, at all times, and enables almost direct transactions from e.g. the Netherlands to the United States.
  7. Stellar has an active community on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Stellar is simply well represented across the internet.
  8. The multinational IBM sees a lot of potential in Stellar and have already signed contracts with more than 44 banks to make the transition to the so-called World Wire. More than 72 countries and 47 different currencies are already participating.
  9. Stellar’s payment network is extremely fast (2–5 seconds) and cheap to use. The transaction costs on the Stellar blockchain are only a fraction of a cent.

Where can I buy Stellar?

If you want to buy Stellar, I advise you to do so on Bitvavo, Litebit or Binance (with their fiat-to-crypto exchange Jersey). You can also save Stellar here, but never leave your cryptocurrency portfolio on an exchange for too long.

Where can I safely store Stellar?

If you want to store Stellar safely, I recommend that you do so on the Ledger Nano S or the latest Ledger Nano X.
