Great article. But I think that the trepidation regarding gaming is a blanket statement not applicable to all personalities.
Every morning and afternoon, I walk to and from work. During that time I read the news, then fiction, respectively. I also read during my lunch break (unless I’m watching cooking videos hahaha). If I were tracking just the reading I do on my way home, since the beginning of the year I’ve read over 2,000 pages.
I say all of this because I also play a competitive game online. I deliberately choose one game to have in my life (I intentionally don’t even play games on my phone, per the rule), and it has no ill effects on my relationships. If anything, the game is so difficult at the level I compete that it forces me to reflect on myself and my competitive nature, what drives me, how can I improve, and all those healthy inward questions that come with playing physical sports—which I also play!
I guess I just wanted to point out (in case anyone reads this), that number two has more to do with addiction in the current set of standards/discredation set in front of men these days. You could replace it with gambling and I think this list would be spot on.
