I’m a historian of ideas with a doctorate who taught school for 44 years. At 76 I’ve seen all those -isms and often worked up their history and prehistory for my students so they could understand them as biases, or religions. All you need to escape this devolution of the Humanities is a belief that there is truth and enough humility to understand that nobody knows it all and that, with effort, some can get closer than others.
