Enkindle your Wellbeing — An insight into Nicola Arnold a LifeCoach and 2017 @bizmums nominee
Nicola writes regularly for the fabulous The Huffington Post and Thrive Global on wellbeing, gratitude and positive mindsets. I came across her voluntary work this week and was so impressed that I wanted to share it with all of you. I am a huge believer in #socialaction the #doingwellbydoing good movement and Nicola really personifies both these hashtags!
So Nicola is busy; by day she works at her local NHS hospital as a pharmacy technician. That in itself is pretty full on, but she has just received a 20 year service award for her voluntary work with the Brownies. She really likes to support her local community and has enjoyed helping multitudes of local Brownies (girls aged 7–10 years old) feel happy with themselves and develop their creativity and self confidence. Teaching children about positivity is very important to Nicola and she encourages regular gratitude practice at the Brownie unit she runs.
Nicola is also a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach who runs the impressive Enkindle Life Coaching Company.
Enkindle means Illuminate and Nicola sees her role as a life coach as illuminating the path of possibilities for individuals who are ready to overcome self-doubt and connect with their real values. She works to nurture and champion her clients, such that they can connect with their inner confidence and get ready to stand in their own spotlight and feel happy in their own skin. 90% of her client sessions are held on skype so she can connect and work with people all over the world.
Nicola believes that Wellbeing involves recognising the link between body and mind. There is lots of information out there about how to eat healthily or exercise effectively, we all know the five a day mantra (whether we choose to live by it or not!) but there is less information out there about how we nourish the mind. She wants to see this area of knowledge expand so that is is much easier for people to talk about working towards a healthy mind. By her own admission Nicola is a real gratitude champion and thinks harnessing gratitude is a great tool for building a positive mindset and resilience to help us cope with the bad days and knocks that will inevitably come our way.
Her role model is Brene Brown and Nicola recommends you listen to some of her Ted Talks — click here . Brene talks about being your true self, and advises that until you truly explore and understand your true self and what makes you happy (not your parents/spouse/employer/society) that you can not be truly healthy. She firmly believes that if you want something you can’t just wish for it — you’ve got to make it happen! It’s about putting yourself first. So often in life we look after everybody else and do things to please others and neglect what we truly want.
You can find out more about Enkindle on the Website. However there is also a great Facebook Page. Starting Sunday 6th August, Nicola will be running a fabulous ‘Bringing Colour to Your Life’ 7 day challenge.
Nicola asks ‘What would it be like to really live life in vibrant colour? To notice the amazing tapestry of the world that surrounds us?
Mindfulness is being mentioned repeatedly, with the TV, radio, newspapers and internet buzzing about this life-enhancing practice.
In addition to mindfulness as a personal practice, both the public sector and corporate world are using mindful techniques to bring business value and to improve employee well-being.
This 7 day challenge gives you an opportunity to focus on a different colour each day as you practice the basic principles of mindfulness. You will be prompted to really ‘just notice’ and discover what you could really open your eyes and minds too and to take a picture of your findings which you can share on the event wall.’
If you want to upgrade to High Definition and live life in full colour. Join in via the facebook page here.’
After attending an @ActionforHappiness course Nicola and her fellow course mate, Ben decided to run some Action for Happiness — Exploring What Matters, 8-week community wellbeing courses in Hampshire. Nicola and the participants found them really enriching and rewarding. Nicola has since been asked to represent #ActionforHappiness at the forthcoming Refresh Festival in Wellington Park or 2/3 September 2017. She will be taking to the stage at the Refresh Festival and holding some happiness workshops. Find out more about the Refresh Festival here
The area of Nicola’s work that I most wanted to share with you is her Happy to be Me Hub. Launched in January 2016, it now has over 270 active members who participate and gain great value from the group. The Happy to be ME hub is an online community where people can share what’s made them smile and how they have connected with gratitude. It has fostered a culture where everyone supports and champions each other to be their authentic selves and be happy to be in their own skin. It’s a safe and supportive online group where participants champion each other to become their very best selves. The aim is to support and make sure that every step is a step in the right direction. Nicola sets regular challenges and exercises for the group and so that they can work on new techniques or develop new skills to grow their happiness and wellbeing. If you join her Happy to be ME Hub you can be sure to take a walk with gratitude and develop a positive mindset.
The next Challenge starting in the hub on Saturday 22nd July is Managing your mindset — The 7 day gremlin bootcamp.
Nicola explains it, ‘Maintaining a positive mindset in a busy world full of curve balls is a challenge. I’ve decided to help others manage their mindset, as I did mine, and will be running a FREE 7 day challenge which will provide practical hints and techniques to get you motivated and moving forward. Together we will banish your self doubts and have you connect with your positive stronger self enabling you to move forward and feel happy in your own skin.
I’d love you to come join myself and the other challengers to really shake off the doubt and learn new ways of managing your mindset that allows choice, freedom and a sense of release from feeling like you’re stuck and not achieving.
Just imagine what it would feel like to relax your shoulders, start looking up and around you rather than down and a sense of accomplishment and moving forwards?’
If you think you could benefit from this challenge then please join Nicola’s Happy to be Me Hub on facebook via this link
As a result of all this fantastic work and service for the community, Nicola has been nominated for a @BizMums Exceptional Service Award. Nominations had to be in by May 24th and winners will be announced on Sunday, October 8th, 2017, at the annual BizMums Conference & Awards at the Manor House in Alsager, Cheshire. The day will bring together 100’s of mums in business from across the region to network, learn and celebrate each other’s achievements of the past 12 months. I have my fingers crossed that Nicola will be a BizMums winner! Let’s face it — she is already a winner, by her own definition and ours. Thank you for all the great work you are doing Nicola!
Nicola is currently offering FREE 30 minute telephone taster sessions for all new clients to enable you to try out coaching and see if you like it. It is important you feel a connection with your life coach and the taster session gives you a chance to. You’re stronger than you realise. #Choosetoshine
