Although all masternodes are created equal, they provide different Return On Investment (ROI).

Let’s go through the thinking process of an average masternode investor to figure out how to

reap maximum profits from each type of masternode i

Here’s a screenshot of top 15 best performing masternodes in the past 30 days:

#1 — Rising Stars with insane ROI.

Why the ROI is what it is:

Because every masternode investor wants these coins. But, the amount of coins available for sale is very limited because it’s a new coin and coins need to be mined or bought straight from the developer. Some coins might be offered by miners for sale at the Discord/telegram chat channels.

The best course of action

… depends on individual investor’s risk tolerance, greed and overall financial situation.

Rising Stars could become Falling Stars very quickly. And, fortunes are lost way faster than they’re accumulated. If financial situation and risk tolerance permit — go hunt for high ROI coins at crypto currency exchanges and chat channels.

Sucker trap to avoid:

Go figure out how many coins were minted at the moment when the coin was launched. In some cases developers may have about 20% pre-mined coins which they use to build their own masternodes and sell to public. Watch what happens when the demand for coin cools down because if the development team is quiet — they may be packing their belongings hoping to run away. Just keep an eye on things and be ready to dump your coins very fast.

#2 — Cash Cows with somewhat predictable ROI.

Why the ROI is what it is:

The demand for coin is still there — masternode investors want to add the coin for their pools. The supply is also there — collateral coins are available at one or more crypto exchanges. Masternode investors understand and relate to what may be called a “stable passive income”. Nothing Really Big happens or scheduled to happen.

The best course of action

Do your research, then add a handful of masternodes to your pool. Monitor them like a hawk

Sucker trap to avoid:

Holding coins for too long — watch the news, feel the rhythm of a coin and become a part of community (or pay someone to do all that for you). Things happen very fast in the cryptocurrency universe. Just don’t be the sucker with all the coins that worth nothing.

#3 — Dogs with low growth and low ROI.

Why the ROI is what it is:

Hard to say, really. Every coin has its own history. In case of DASH coin the 21.82% ROI means $33,236.63 in income. Some people make less that annually working full time. On the other hand collateral for the DASH masternode cost $185,542.80 — that’s a price of an okay house somewhere in rural Florida.

Low growth and low ROI may not seem attractive for masternode investors who demand continuous growth.

The best course of action

As with Rising Stars — proceed with caution. It’s one thing to make $1,000 in a month with a “Dog” masternode. And, it’s another thing to lose $5,000 with a Rising Star masternode.

Analyze all factors that contribute to a success of a given coin —

  1. Company’s web site
  2. Activity with a coin thread at the bitcointalk.org
  3. Active social Media Presence
  4. Active development team
  5. Active, growing community
  6. Listings with paid services like CoinMarketCap.com

Sucker trap to avoid:

You don’t want to be the last dude with all the worthless coins :) Look at trends, news, logic and your own feelings to avoid a coin that’ll never fly again. Don’t worry, about missing an opportunity — another one is just around the corner.
