Ralph,

A drawer myself, and a teacher of architectural students, I was curious what you’d try to get across in a short Medium post. As with most everything I have seen by you, kudos for going beyond the mere technical aspects to starting to engage the substantive aspects of what makes a drawing start to “sing” with hints of what can be striven for with shade and shadow, composition, subject matter, and cultural underpinnings of how we perceive things. Absolutely brilliant presentation and now on my list of links to share with others.

Because you’d be so good at it with your gifs, if I may put in a request for one of your future posts: subtractive and additive design/composition in the sense of a woodcut (ie, simply black/white/hatched “grey”).

Tschuss,
