As of January 1, 2018, a federal law is taking effect making it illegal for companies to ask an applicant what their previous employer(s) paid them. This law is meant to keep employers from paying men and women different salaries, as well as narrowing any pay discrepancies between ethnic groups. Granted it is a small move, but I am hoping it will be a step in a more positive direction.
