Think Ahead

Who you date matters

I see too many girls dating the wrong guys. The sad part? They are completely blind to see he’s the wrong guy. He is sweet and there for them, it’s all they want. Because of that, his major flaws are ignored. No one is perfect and I am not going to write about how he should bring flowers every day and take her shopping every weekend. Though that would probably be great, I’m almost positive that is not love.
I’m going to focus on the BIG picture, things that matter in the long run, such as: Does he have a steady job? Will he not only provide for you in the future, but provide for y’all’s kids? Does he work hard, not only at school, but at work too? Because let’s face it, a master’s degree with no ambition is just a piece of paper. You have probably never directly asked yourself these questions, but if you know him, you know these answers. If you don’t, take the time to really think about it and get these questions answered.
Let’s skip to the biggest thing: are y’all on the same level spiritually? For example, you love Christ and live through him. He says he is Christian which is good enough for you to where you look past that he doesn’t live the life of a Christian. But when you really think about if his core beliefs are different from yours, that could cause a lot of problems in the future. I understand thinking ahead is not fun and stupid if you are all about “living life”, but when y’all are 30, have 2 kids, and you are going to church alone, that might not be too wonderful.
If he doesn’t act in the way of a Christian what would happen if your son took a girls virginity at a party? Will you be disgusted and him throw a line out like “boys will be boys!” All I’m saying is look ahead when you date, because dating is about the big picture. If you were to marry him, how would he handle situations? From the loss of a job to your child making some mistakes. So I end with opposites may attract, but don’t date someone who doesn’t believe what you believe.
