Broken dreams
These tiny pieces of broken dreams
Get in the way of everything
These dreams when they break, they break real fine and tiny.
They are everywhere
Itty bitty pieces in my morning coffee,
under the blanket, even in my tooth brush!
I caught a mouthful of them when I yawned this afternoon.
Nasty little bits, sticky and stubborn,
Just like glitter, everywhere and twinkling
Can’t even drink a glass of water without it getting stuck in my throat!
Can’t wash it off even with a power hose!!
Too small and too many pieces to put back together,
No glue will hold it together again
Can't mop them off the floor, can't sweep it up from under the couch
Vaccum machines get jammed. Broken dreams however tiny block everything.
They are just too teensy and numerous,
these tiny pieces of broken dreams
Nothing else to do but sit and wait
And rub the pieces off as they fall into your eyes
And hope for a breeze to blow it all away.
