This is a thought that came into my head when I read this. It’s a ‘quote’ though I’m not sure where it came from — somewhere back in the 80s in Vermont. It’s something like this: Once you put your thoughts down on a piece of paper, you can scrunch them up and throw them away.
It’s stayed with me. I think that’s part of the cathartic part of writing. You can get thoughts out, you can keep them, or you can throw them away.
