Cleveland Would NEVER Trade LeBron James… But What If They Did?

It’s hard to imagine the Cavs willingly moving on from LeBron. But what sort of offer could they get if they did?

Cleveland is not going to trade LeBron James.

They won’t. They can’t. They shouldn’t. They would never.

… But what if they did?

What if the Cavs keep on losing, and what if the defense gets even worse, and what if Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder keep not fitting in, and what if Cleveland can’t find any trades that make this team ostensibly better?

What if 10 losses in 13 becomes 13-in-17 or 15-in-20 by the trade deadline? What if LeBron sees the writing on the wall and decides enough is enough? What if James makes it clear he won’t re-sign this summer and the team has fallen to the edge of the playoff race? What if LeBron threatens to sit out the second half of the season so he doesn’t threaten his legacy by missing the playoffs with this broken, rundown roster? What if LeBron demands a trade, and what if Cleveland decides to give it to him?

It’s crazy, really. It’s crazy we can even consider this as an outside possibility, and it’s still too crazy to happen, especially since any team trading for LeBron would have to meet the steep price and risk him leaving 30 games later for nothing this summer. Plus, LeBron has a no-trade clause and can reject any offer he doesn’t like, so really, three…
