Still think the most important part of the 2004 perfect storm was the US sending its worst pro roster ever, with horrible chemistry and an especially bad coaching match in Larry Brown. We should be ok there with Pop but this roster was our worst since 04 with a handful of guys totally out of Coach K’s rotation when it mattered. If the elite stars don’t find the Olympics worth their time, then we leave the door open.

When perfection is what’s expected, all it takes is one confluence of poor shooting, lousy defensive effort, hot stretch by an opponent, etc to get one win. Team USA will forever win a round robin, but one loss is all it takes.
