Literary Loop

A Poem

You provide an escape

In the middle of the night when I’m wide and awake

Cracking you open I crash,

Splash in the ocean

Dazed by the waves as if the Kraken’s awoken

Lifted by your language

Explaining your anguish

Blushing at the touch of the brush that you paint with

Vocabulary pulsing through my capillaries

Showing reality through beings imaginary

We cry at the same times

We laugh at the same lines

With one stroke of the pen, your pain is made mine

Just one more chapter

Then one more after

Till I’m comatose and I ghost like Casper

You rest best on the shelf but reside in my heart

Restless in this loop as I return to the start
