Listen to “Hello Banana” on Spotify

Chicago has officially said “goodbye” to Summer 2017 — and OKRP kicked off fall by welcoming Juice and their team of digital experts to our West Loop headquarters.

It is no secret music is a driving force behind many an OKRP campaign, and a definite cultural standard within our office. So, what better way to welcome our new partner than to hand them curatorial rights to our October Whiskey & Bananas playlist. These 10 hand-picked, eclectic and legendary tracks perfectly complement our ‘Have Soul’ principal and are sure to leave listeners thirsty for more.

Juice Interactive expands on their inspirations for their song choices:

When you are a team as small as ours, you get to know each other pretty well. On any given day at the Juice office you’ll hear lots of laughter, a couple of inappropriate jokes and a playlist chosen to perfectly fit our mood. If it’s a rainy morning, we might opt for mellow acoustics to ease us into the day, while 90s hip-hop may be required if we need to keep energy high while cranking on a deliverable.

Always a democracy, each person has veto power and opinions are given freely and openly. Our Art Director, Melissa, introduced our group to a love of 60s French pop, while Cassandra’s obsession with rare soul or Angela’s penchant for punk has fueled many a late night. As we become part of the OKRP family, our approach to this playlist was to bring together our favorites and pay homage to the songs that have inspired and soundtracked our team’s dedicated and passionate work. It is our hope that these songs will inspire you too.

I’m a Tangerine — Tommy James & The Shondells

A psychedelic deep cut that can’t help but sweep you away.

La Premiere a Gauche — Jacqueline Taieb

A song so carefree and candy-colored it makes you want to grab a beret.

Out of Our Tree — The Wailers

One of the first American garage bands, this song is catchy and infectious.

Could Be You — Allah-Las

A fun track by a band whose music is cool, collected and heavily influenced by the music of the 1960s.

Cooking Up Something Good — Mac Demarco

Immediately starting with a catchy, loose guitar riff, this song is a favorite worth sharing.

Absolutely Sweet Marie — Bob Dylan

Like a sunny day in ’66 — you want to be driving through the country with the top down.

54-46 Was My Number — Toots & The Maytals

A rocksteady track that pairs perfectly with a cocktail in your hand.

Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat) — Digable Planets

Basically, jazz & hip-hop made a love child that became the coolest kid in school.

Two Bugs and a Roach — Earl Hooker

Prepare for some of the best slide guitar and some true Chicago attitude.

The Devastator — Stormy

Just try not to dance to this song — we dare you.
