Candles, with their warm glow, add ambience to any space. When you place them in a dimly lit room, the flickering light creates a soft, welcoming atmosphere, and their fragrance adds a signature scent to your home. You probably want to enjoy the light and fragrance of your candles for as long as possible, whether you have a favorite option that you buy over and over or an impressive collection. To enjoy tea light candles for a longer period, a combination of proper usage and maintenance is required. Here are some tips from White Magic Candles to help you get the most out of your tea-light candles:

  • Keep the wicks trimmed.

A well-trimmed wick will produce a bright flame. A crooked or long wick can cause uneven burning, which can lead to bursts of high flames or smoking. Wicks should be about one-fourth-inch tall for best burning; don’t cut them any lower. Remove the charred part with a tissue, and your wick is ready to use.

  • Keep any debris out of the wax pool.

Don’t contaminate the candle pool with cut-off or charred wicks or used matches. Debris in the wax will mess with the candle’s chemistry and could make it burn unevenly. This could clog the wick and prevent it from drawing up and diffusing the fragrance oil.

  • Don’t light a new candle for a few minutes.

Allow tea light candles to burn for at least one hour to form a complete pool of melted wax across the surface of their container, from rim to rim, the first time you burn them. This is because wax has a memory, and subsequent lighting will struggle to extend beyond the circumference of the previous burn.

  • Avoid placing burning candles near fans, vents, and drafts.

Air currents can cause candles to burn unevenly or produce too much smoke or soot, leaving messy black stains on your container. If a wick gets too long or an air current alters the flame’s teardrop shape, a small amount of unburned carbon can escape.

  • Before relighting a candle, let it cool to its absolute maximum.

It takes about two hours for white tea light candles or any colour candles in a container to completely cool down, but the wait is worth it for both safety and function. Trimming the wick after the wax pool has hardened is much safer. If you touch a hot pool of melted wax before it has cooled and solidified, you risk burning your fingers.

Finally

Whether you use Tea Light Scented Candles, or soy candles, by following the above tips, you can increase the burn time and enjoyment of your tea-light candles while ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
