Life after jQuery UK

We’re White October Events, and we run conferences and training workshops for web developers. For the last four years we’ve had a brilliant time organising jQuery UK. But for 2016, we’ve decided to do something different…

jQuery UK has never been an event solely about jQuery. It’s actually the UK’s largest front-end developer conference, with talks covering topics ranging from Web Components and Service Workers to ES6 and WebGL.

Earlier this year, around 800 of you joined us in Oxford for two packed tracks of inspirational and technical talks from world-class speakers including Mark Otto, Jenn Schiffer and Addy Osmani. We’re extremely excited to be putting together another stellar line-up for you, but this time our front-end conference goes by a different name.

That’s right — we won’t be running jQuery UK again exactly as it was. Instead we’re putting all our energies into a new front-end conference. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you: Render!

Those of you who’ve joined us at jQuery UK before will find Render comfortingly familiar in several ways. We’re holding it at the King’s Centre, the Oxford venue we used for JQUK, and you’ll no doubt recognise our friendly team, whose t-shirts will be as garish as ever!

But of course it wouldn’t be a new conference if everything were the same, so expect some exciting changes! We don’t want to give all our plans away just yet, but we can tell you that Render is a two day conference, and that you can choose to attend either day or both days. It’ll be single track this time, so you don’t need to worry about missing any of the amazing talks we’ll have on the programme.

Want to know who our first four confirmed speakers are? Join the mailing list to find out before anyone else!

We’ve had a wonderful experience running jQuery UK and we learned a huge amount. We’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone who was involved — 54 speakers, 40 sponsors, thousands of attendees, and our brilliant team of volunteers. Finally, special thanks go to the jQuery Foundation, without whom JQUK would never have existed in the first place!

It’s sad saying farewell to an event you know and love, but we’re very excited about Render and we know you’ll really dig what we’ve got in store for you. Tickets go on sale soon — we’ll see you there!

Lots of love,
White October Events x
