Making the Decision to Move on to a New Career
Julissa Treviño

This rings so true with me! I recently (and begrudgingly) left journalism. I went from a (part-time!) public radio radio reporter who scrambled together all the side jobs I could muster to a technical writer for an online training company. I so closely identify with being a journalist, I am still finding the transition out difficult.

While I do dream of going back to journalism (I actually still do some on the side…) I do not miss the meager pay, demanding hours, and pressure to always show up when called even if it’s my day off. And my new job, while not as fulfilling or fun to tell people when they ask “What do you?” definitely has perks (insurance! work you can leave at the office! the financial ability and time to take a vacation!).

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
