Why Everyone Loves K-pop Artist Kai
Mark Twain once said, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”. South Korean K-pop artist Kai gives a level of benevolence that people cannot help but to fall in love with him.

Have you ever seen someone that everyone is naturally so drawn to? Sometimes, it is the things they say or the aura they give? South Korean EXO member and solo artist Kai is loved by everyone, domestically and internationally.
Kai’s stage presence had always been admired by people across the world, and his album allows people to fall in love with him as an artist even more. Ever since “FILM: KAI” had released, Kai has gain many fans.

Due to Kai earning more fans, let’s discuss the man within Kai, Kim Jongin. Kim Jongin is Kai’s legal name. Jongin is always seen as Kai’s actual personality whereas as Kai is his stage presence. His personality and stage presence can be seen as dichotomous from each other, but, in reality, they balance each other in what makes Kai himself. Kai has shown the true artist he is with his debut album. As Kai opens the door, more fans enter. As they enter, they should be aware of the man they are inviting themselves to.
Kai has always shown himself as a selfless, humble, and caring person. He has done and said things that would make one’s heart melt. His benevolence and selfless, equanimous character makes many of his fans love him beyond his stage presence. He is one of those idols where you can feel deep down that they are genuinely a good person. His influence is the gentle breeze; his kindness is the wind that kisses everyone’s cheeks. If all that Kai has done was mentioned, this article would become very long. So, here are some things Kai has done over the years.
In 2016, Girls’ Generation member YoonA and Kai participated in UNICEF and Louis Vuitton’s “Make a Promise” campaign, which was meant to help children in urgent need. Money that was made from sales were donated to UNICEF.

In 2017, Kai took part in a campaign that highlights and raises awareness to women who have been sexually assaulted in the workplace. As he mentions in the video, “It is not your fault!”
In 2017 and 2018, Kai took part in a campaign that helped 5,000 children in Vietnam to obtain quality music education in better conditions. These campaigns were called “Smile” and “A Happy World for All Children”.
In 2017, Kai agreed to participate in a photoshoot for Big Issue magazine for free, considering that 50% of sales were going to be given to their vendors who are homeless. Since the issue was a winter one, Kai benevolently said he hoped that many people would be warm that winter. Kai genuinely felt happy to help out those who were in need. In this interview, translated by user choconini_ on twitter, Kai’s tenderness is shown as he gives back to those in need.

All of these show how aware Kai is of the influence he has, and the fact that he consistently uses it is quite amazing, because not many people are willing to consistently take part in campaigns for the greater good. Just to check in, are you in love yet? Keep in mind, these are the few of many things he has done.
Kai shows his benevolence consistently. In a more recent interview, Esquire Korea’s 25th Anniversary Issue, he says, “I don’t think it’s necessary to go on diets — unless it’s for health or personal satisfaction…Wouldn’t one be happier to spend time by eating delicious food with people who love them for the way they are?”

This was translated from his loyal and dedicated fanbase, INTL KAI. His response was to a commentary about how Kai always emphasize and re-emphasize that fans don’t need to lose weight, particularly if it’s not for their own satisfaction or health but to conform to other people’s ideas.

Again, keeping in mind of his influence, Kai always make fans feel comfortable about themselves. In 2015, a fan asked Kai to help her lose weight. He looked at her and respond “you don’t need to lose weight though? Just study hard”. And these incidents, Kai continues to defend and show his disgust for people who try to fix their own ideas onto someone else, ultimately, bringing their confidence down.
Sometimes, people need to hear from someone else, especially someone they look up to, that they are fine the way they are. Kai’s responses challenges hegemonic ideology of thinness and encourages fans to see they are more than fine by being the way they are.

Kai is one of the South Korean influencers who have a darker skin tone. In a society that glorifies pale and light skin, Kai does not conform to their ideology of beauty. In fact, Kai consistently shows that he loves his skin, despite being tease about it as a child and during his career.

It was nice to see him be part of a makeup brand that shows his natural beauty. Bobbi Brown’s representation of the beauty of a person’s natural skin tone is important, because it shows how important emphasizing your natural skin tone is, because it makes you who you are.
His love for his own skin tone can be for his own personal self esteem, as he mentioned he used to be bullied for his skin color. However, Kai publicly loving his skin can make his fans be more comfortable with their skin too, as many of Kai’s fans have darker complexions.

Not only do fans love Kai, but people who work with him love him too. Just recently, Kai was featured in a video with YOOXICMAN on Youtube.
He and Kai shared such a fun interaction as they indulged in preparing and cooking meat. Not only did he create a video with Kai, but he went out his way to mention how much of a good person Kai is, translated by INTLKAI.
This is not the first time someone has complimented Kai’s character. And it will certainly not be the last. There’s so many good things about Kai. Kai’s gentleness and benevolence, his artistry, his humbleness, his intelligence, and so much more are all good qualities he carries. He is a philanthropist, consistently giving back to those in need and reminding people that they are fine the way they are. As he is currently promoting his magnificent work, Kai creates a fun atmosphere with those he works with.
Without a doubt, Kai exhibits the most excellent when he performs. However, his benevolence and compassion shines so bright that the hearts of the world swirls and spins. Generosity is a universal language. As famous book author Mark Twain once said, “Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see”. As Kai’s real name, Jongin, means to “spread kindness”, it’s fitting since he is the person who spreads kindness to everyone he comes across and those he cannot meet. His kindness meets them wherever they are.
