The Oddest Hiring Experience I’ve Ever Had
Thanks for Hiring me?
I clean houses for a living. It’s something I started myself as a side project. I set my own hours and pay. It’s easy and I like it. However, I wanted a second job. Something Part Time and chill to supplement my income.
Enter the new coffee shop in town. I will spare the name since I am a nice person, though they totally don’t deserve it. This man, we will call him Craig, interviewed me and that seemed to go well. So I called a few days later to follow up..
“Yeah, we would love to have you on our team.” he says.
I squeal with excitement and thanks. I mean this place was just what I was looking for-A fireplace, dim lighting, yummy drinks and a chill vibe. Perfect! Except not so much. This guy has been the biggest flake ever. He told me I was hired but NEVER sent me any hiring paper work or put me on the schedule. Erked, I kept calling him asking what’s up, but instead of being a MAN about it and telling me he hired too many people and didn’t have hours for me, he proceeded to lead me on. He told me at least 4 times he was “working on the schedule”. He also told me he’d: call me back, text me, send me paper work…. The list goes on and on with this guy! I’ve never had a boss make so many empty promises. And it doesn’t help that my number one pet peeve in life is flakiness. I felt embarrassed for having blurted on social media my excitement over my new job only to find out I don’t technically have one. Now I have the pleasure of explaining to everyone my misfortune.
But seriously, who does this to someone? Not that it matters much, but he also knew I was a single mother. He was a missionary for 10 years before opening this shop! Not very christian-like if you ask me. He didn’t even mention anything about paying for the 2 days I was there training. What a weasel!! I am so dissapointed and erked but hey that’s life and I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I wouldn’t want to work for someone that shady anyways. I hope you feel bad Craig, wherever you are. You done did me wrong sir!! I’m joking as to keep from crying.
