Colour Coffee has become well known nationally for it’s quality and on a local level to customers at Pink Lane Coffee near Central Station.

Founders Anth and Jen Atkinson have achieved great success roasting their own beans and wholesaling to others in and beyond Newcastle. Most recently adding local coffee joint 9Bar to their growing customer list.

They’re now keen to extend their retail space too, by joining us on the quayside.

The Colour Coffee story began when Jen was at the tender age of just five-years-old! She tasted her first espresso and a lifelong affair was forged. Fast forward to when Jen met Anth. It seemed her love for the coffee bean was infectious, as Anth soon found that he too had a taste for the java.

After a spell working in sales for a beer company, Anth’s passion for coffee spread to his working life when he moved into an account management role for a coffee supplier.

During this time, he learnt from the masters about every detail of how to create the perfect blend. But he also realised that he could do it better…

This is where Colour Coffee was born.

Together with Jen, Anth dreamt of roasting their own beans and creating their own coffee haven.

Plus, Newcastle was crying out for place that sold great coffee.

After two years of searching, the Colour Coffee duo found their perfect space over at Pink Lane. They opened in May 2012 and began roasting high quality coffee in November 2013.

Today, Pink Lane Coffee has an amazing reputation in and beyond Newcastle. They’ve been featured in many a publication — Global Coffee Review, Grazia and Bean Scene Magazine (from all the way over in Australia!) to name a few.

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Colour Coffee to W&W. We asked Anth why he thought pairing with us was a great opportunity for the business. He said:

“We really compliment one another. Our customers value a great quality product from an independent driven by passion. This is exactly what Whosit & Whatsit is all about.
For us, the quayside is a place which needs a solid retail offering, not just bars and restaurants — it’s great to see the regeneration that’s happening already and we’re really excited to be part of it.”

We’re extremely excited too Anth!
